Correction in voter ID card in Name, Photograph, Elector’s Photo Identity Card Number(if issued), Address, Date of Birth, Age, Name of Relative, Type of Relation, Gender etc. can be applied in NVSP (now it is Voters ECI) site online facilitated by Election commission of India.

Once you have checked your name in electoral rolls in Voter list online in India, and found some of the mistakes in name and date of birth then you need to do correction in voter ID card. You can update your details through ECI Voters site online also apart from the traditional ways.

Form 8 in ECI Voters site for Correction in Voter ID Card entries in the Electoral Rolls online. You request in this page to “Change the entries relating to yourself appearing in the electoral roll on the given constituency is not correct and it should be corrected“.

You should only apply to change the name or any other particulars of yours in Form 8 in ECI Voters site if there is mismatch found in names, date of birth or address given in voter id card with the actual documents such as PAN card, High School/Intermediate Marksheet/Certificate or Birth certificate.

Any false attempt should not be tried on Form 8 in Voters ECI site for correction of entries in the Electoral Rolls online as this is against the law and it is punishable under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 (43 of 1950).

Steps For Correction in Voter ID Card Details

1. Visit National Voters’ Services Portal or Voters ECI website and click on Login to login into your account otherwise if you don’t have account here then click on Register as new user by giving your mobile number and email, OTP received in your mobile number and email, Captcha code, Epic Number, email address, password and confirm password and click on Register button. After registering, login into your account, or you can refer article add voter ID details.
2. Click on correction of entries in the Electoral Rolls Form 8.
3. Form 8 for the correction in voter ID card page opens. (If you are relocating to another place, then you need to change your address and to fill Form 8A in ECI Voters site)
4. You can select the languages to fill the form 8 among Hindi, English and Malayalam from the language selection drop down box.
5. Select State, District and Assembly or Parliamentary Constituency from the list where your application for correction to particulars entered in electoral roll.
6. Give name and surname in Applicant’s details section.
7. Give details of registration with electoral roll as per Name of Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency (it will appear automatically once you filled up point #5 and #6), such as Part number of electoral roll, Serial No. of Electoral Roll and Elector’s Photo Identity Card Number (How To Find Serial And Part Number Of Electoral Roll Online?).
8. Please tick the entry which is to be corrected from the given list Name, Photograph, Elector’s Photo Identity Card Number(if issued), Address, Date of Birth, Age, Name of Relative, Type of Relation, Gender.
9. In section (F) of the form, fill all the required details such as address, Elector’s Photo Identity Card Number(if issued), Date of Birth, Age, Relative’s Name, Relative’s Surname, Relation and Gender etc.
10. Upload supporting age proof and address proof documents in .jpg,.png,.bmp,.jpeg format only.
11. Enter email id and mobile number which is optional. Verify the form for the entries written above by you are correct as per the supporting documents you uploaded in ECI Voters site.
12. Enter captcha code appearing in the image, in the text box and then Click on Submit button.

Following above steps properly, you can do correction in voter ID card online without visiting anywhere. Once you have done this process, you can check your details in the electoral roll through ECI Voters site.

List of Age Proof Documents For Correction in Voter ID Card Details

• Birth certificate issued by a Municipal Authorities or district office of the Registrar of Births & Deaths or Baptism certificate ; or
• Birth certificate from the school (Govt. / Recognized) last attended by the applicant or any other recognized educational institution ; or
• If a person in class 10 or more pass, he should give a copy of the marksheet of class 10, if it contains date of birth as a proof of date of birth ; or
• Marksheet of class 8 if it contains date of birth ; or
• Marksheet of class 5 if it contains date of birth ; or
• Indian Passport ; or
• PAN card ; or
• Driving License ; or
• Aadhar letter issued by UIDAI

List of Residence Proof Documents required to do Correction in Voter ID Card

• Bank / Kisan / Post Office current Pass Book ; or
• Ration Card ; or
• Passport ; or
• Driving License ; or
• Income Tax Assessment Order ; or
• Latest rent agreement ; or
• Latest Water / Telephone / Electricity / Gas Connection Bill for that address, either in the name of the applicant or that of his / her immediate relation like parents etc. ; or
• Any post / letter / mail delivered through Indian Postal Department in the applicant’s name at the address of ordinary residence.
