If you are relocating to new address/transposition within Assembly or shifting to a different Assembly Constituency then you need to apply for the change in address in your voter ID card either online or offline.

To change the address in Voter ID card then Form 8/8A in the ECI Voters website to be filled in and submit it online.

Though, you can opt offline process as well where also you will be needed to fill Form 8A to change the address in voter ID and submit it to the concerned department in your District/Tehsil of your new Assembly Constituency with the supporting documents.

Steps to Change Address in Voter ID Card and Fill Form 8/8A Online

1. Visit National Voters’ Services Portal or ECI Voters site or you can refer article on add voter ID details.
2. Click on Form 8/8A for “Transposition within Assembly“
3. Select any language from Hindi, English or Malayalam from the Select Language drop down.
4. Form for Application for transposition of entry in electoral roll (in case of Shifting from One Place of Residence to Another Place of Residence within Same Constituency or another) opens.
5. The application is addressed to “Electoral Registration Officer” of your Assembly/Constituency, where you need to select your State, District and Assembly/Parliamentary Constituency name.
6. You state in Form 8A declaration, “I request that entry in the electoral roll for the above mentioned Constituency relating to Myself should be transposed to the relevant part of the roll in this constituency because I have shifted my place of ordinary residence within the same constituency.“
7. Fill the particulars of the applicant such as Name, Surname, Part No. and Serial No., EPIC number (if issued), and Family_Epic. (You can visit the link, How to find Serial and Part number of Electoral Roll online?)
8. You can fill email ID and mobile number which are optional.
9. In section (h) of form, fill your current address of your ordinary residence where you have shifted.
10. Upload supporting documents such as photograph and address proof in .jpg,.png,.bmp,.jpeg format.
11. Fill place and captcha code (given in the image) in the the text box and Submit the form with declaration “I hereby declare that the facts and particulars mentioned above are true to the best of my knowledge and belief. I am aware that making a statement or declaration which is false and which I know or believe to be false or do not believe to be true, is punishable under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 (43 of 1950).“
12. After submitting the form, wait for few days and then again check your updated address is appearing in the NVSP site or not.

National Voters’ Services Portal (NVSP) which is now Voters ECI has come up with the voters list online way in India so that the citizens of India can check and search their name in voter list available online on electoral rolls in India. Voter lists keep changing in the country and sometimes it means that your name could be missing from the electoral rolls.

Election Commission of India

What is Voter ID?

Voter ID is the card issued by the Election Commission of India and your name should be on the electoral rolls. There are other services also which can be availed through the ECI Voters website like registration of new voter ID, registration of overseas voters, correction of already existing entries as well as you can track your application status online.

How to check name in the Voter List Online through Voters ECI?

1. Go to the National Voter Services Portal’s (NVSP now it is Voters ECI) Electoral Search page or ECI page.
2. Login into the site, or refer article on add voter ID details where all the steps to register/login are given.
3. Click on “Search your name in Electoral Roll” button placed at the left. You can search your name by two ways in this page.
4. Click on Search by Details section and give your name, father/husband name, gender, state and assembly constituency etc., enter captcha code in captcha text field and press/click Search button
5. Click on Search by EPIC number and give your Electoral Photo ID Card (EPIC) number. The EPIC number is mentioned in bold letters on your voter identity card. Enter your EPIC number, select the state from the drop-down menu, and enter captcha code in the captcha text field as you see on the image. Then click or tap Search.
6. Following above steps, list of records will appear at the bottom of the page, click on “View Details” button against your name or EPIC number.
7. Voter Information page opens where all the details such as State, Assembly Constituency, Name, Gender, EPIC number etc. appears on the page.

If your name is appearing in the electoral list and found some mismatch in name, age, address or gender etc. then you need to correct these information online. You can refer this link for the Correction in Voter ID Card online.
